Meet our new Talent Manager, Jack

It is a big month for us at Darogan Talent as we welcome two new members to the team. Growing from one to three is a big milestone in our journey and we cannot wait to introduce you to our latest recruits. Our third and final recruit (for the time being!) will be joining us at the end of the month but in the meantime, we wanted to introduce you to Jack who joined us at the start of January as a Talent Manager. We caught up with him to see how he is feeling about his new role with us:
1) Tell us a bit about yourself and your experience.
I’m Jack, a recruitment consultant from South Wales. Since graduating from Swansea University in 2015, I have over 7 years’ experience in the recruitment sector in Wales, mainly within STEM, but most recently, I have worked in the graduate recruitment/early careers space where I have gained extensive knowledge within this area of talent management.
2) What inspired you to join Darogan?
I have followed Darogan’s journey since its conception and I have always been drawn to its purpose: to raise awareness about opportunities in Wales and to connect employers with the best graduate talent in and outside of Wales.
Having graduated from Swansea University in 2015 with a degree in Politics, I was unsure about what I wanted to do and found that there was little information for graduates about the opportunities available to them in Wales. I eventually found my feet within a recruitment consultant role, specialising in recruitment for STEM sectors in Wales including manufacturing, engineering, and life science, and was blown away by the number of amazing businesses we have in Wales in these sectors alone.
As a result, I have been passionate about this topic ever since and Darogan offers a fantastic solution to the ‘brain drain’. Working for a purpose driven organisation like Darogan was really appealing to me and I am excited to see how I can make a positive impact.
3) What are your hobbies and interests?
I am your ‘stereotypical’ Welshman as I am a huge rugby fan following both the national team and regions. I enjoy being active including running, cycling, and going to the gym, as well as exploring our amazing countryside with my partner and our Border Collie. I am also a big foodie and enjoy cooking and baking at home. I even ran my own food business, Deli Bach, a delicatessen specialising in Welsh food and produce, which came off the back of a COVID-lockdown hobby, before returning to the recruitment sector!
4) What are you most looking forward to with your new role with Darogan?
I am looking forward to connecting with Welsh students, not only in Wales but also outside of the country. I love the fact that Darogan is establishing relationships with Welsh societies in universities outside of Wales, and believe it offers an exciting and innovative solution for sourcing graduate talent. Being able to connect with this talent, hear their experiences, and educate them about the opportunities that are available to them in Wales will be really rewarding.
